First question, does anyone reading this actually remember me? If not, I understand why. I basically skipped Jiu-jitsu in 2012. I have many, many excuses (most of which are pretty damn good) but that serves nobody to dwell upon. I have missed training and need it badly. I am a nicer person to the people at home that I love when I consistently get beaten up by people at Jiu-jitsu that I love. Some may call me a masochist (look it up, you are one as well) and I am proud of it. I have missed great instruction, great seminars and have allowed myself to balloon to 170 lbs. Although my life is stabilizing, I am ashamed that I didn't make the time that I needed to continue on my path.
I am writing this because I still have very deep and strong feelings about tapping Wes. Even though I have missed so much time, the desire still burns inside of me. Tapping Wes for me is going to be like winning the Powerball, not the $550 million Powerball, but at least somewhere north of $50 million. Wes is my saltine, my ritz, http://www.hark.com/clips/pdcnhzgvlq-starving-for-a-cracker. Wes, you are no regular cracker, which is why I have set my sights on you. I have unfortunately put a distance between my original ability to tap Wes and my current ability to do so (without some trickery or getting him while he's injured). Wes keeps getting better, stronger and more fit and I keep getting fatter, slower and my fingers keep getting farther away from my toes. I need Jiu-jitsu. I need to have back the comraderie and friendships that I have let slip this year. I need to be able to walk up my stairs without breathing hard (slight exaggeration).
I started training Jiu-jitsu literally 8 years ago. This has been my pattern for as long as I can remember, 6 months on, 6 months off or some variation thereof. I have had great, great training partners for as long as I can remember, but only very few compare to the quality of people here. I appreciate each and every one of you and I hope to prove to you all that 2013 is going to be different than 2012. I commit that in 2013 I will work hard and consistently to be a great training partner and teammate. If I start getting back into my old pattern, please call me out.
Until then...
